Breaking out of their shells:
These are thrilling times for Theresa Weissenmayer's Grade 3 students at Mackenzie's Morfee Elementary.
Every year, Mrs. Weissenmayer brings in eggs from her hens and places them in an incubator inside her classroom. The eggs are now hatching, just a little late for Easter.
The arrival of the chicks is always a highlight of the school year at Morfee.
On the run:
The annual Elementary School Relays are almost ready to spring from the starting blocks.
The relay races are May 1-3 at Masich Place Stadium, starting at 1 p.m. each day. Fun, good sportsmanship and school spirit are the hallmarks of the races, which are always popular among School District No. 57 students.
Parents, family members and friends are encouraged to attend the Elementary School Relays to cheer on their young runners.
