Beginning in September 2023, Spruceland Traditional Elementary will have officially transitioned to Spruceland Community School of the Arts for grades K to 7.
This means that the Arts will be integrated into all aspects of the curriculum, including reading, writing, numeracy, science, and social studies. In addition to this integration, our students will participate in learning various different forms of Arts, including drama, dance, music, and visual arts.
Students of varying abilities will all benefit from this type of learning, and do not need to have any previous experience with the arts in order to be successful. The Arts can improve a student's ability to learn because they draw on a range of abilities and interests. The intent of this school is to give every child a well-rounded education with a special focus on the Arts.
On January 26, 2023 at 6:00 pm we will hold an Information Session in the Spruceland Elementary Gymnasium for Prince George families to get more information about our new school before kindergarten registration begins in February. We will share details about the new school and will be able to answer questions.
We are asking for your thoughts on having a Community School of the Arts in Prince George, and if you are interested in sending your child to this school. Please participate in our Spruceland Elementary Thought Exchange and let us know what you think. This Thought Exchange will be open from January 6, 2023 to February 3, 2023.
If you decide that this new school of the arts is in line with your goals for your child you will be able to register your child at the Spruceland Community School of the Arts. The easiest way to do this is to complete the SD57 Online Transfer Process that runs from February 15, 2023 to February 28, 2023.
