April 11, 2019 --
Principals, vice principals and administrators from School District No. 57 attended a Thursday information session in Prince George led by globally-recognized speaker Eric Termuende.
Termuende, named one of American Express' Top 100 Emerging Innovators Under 35, specializes in empowering organizations to build better teams and create environments where people thrive individually and as a collective whole. On Thursday, he guided school district personnel through the Stanford Design Thinking Process. Design thinking takes practitioners through five phases – Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype and Test – to encourage creative ways to find solutions to challenges.
Using the process, Termuende helped his school district audience find answers to the question: "How might we increase employee engagement?" In the space of about two hours, he helped focus that broad query into specific potential solutions.
Points of emphasis during his talk were to explore alternatives, learn by doing and to engage in multi-discipline collaborative thinking.
"Creativity is a muscle we can flex," Termuende told his listeners.
Termuende, author of the book, Rethink Work: Finding & Keeping the Right Talent, has appeared on stages at TEDx and BUILDEX. He has also worked with companies like Coca-Cola, Arc'Teryx and Sonova.
