How to Claim Your Scholarship or Bursary

How To Claim Your Award Money

The following information was provided to you when you obtained your award certificate.

Congratulations on receiving a scholarship or bursary through the District Awards Program!  You are to be commended for the diligence and effort which have gone into a most successful high school career.

Before claiming your award, please take the time to write to the award donor, expressing your appreciation for his or her generosity.

To collect your award, you must be sitting in class at an accredited post-secondary institution as a full-time student.

 

If your award money is paid directly by the donor:

 

  • Request from the Registrar's Office of your post-secondary institution a "Confirmation of Full-Time Enrollment" letter, which contains the school year dates and the program of study in which you are enrolled.  It must state that you are a full-time student.  The confirmation letter must be dated after the start date of your program.  
  • Submit this letter and contact information to your award's donor.

 

 

 
If your award money is payable through School District No. 57:

 

  • Request from the Registrar's Office of your post-secondary institution a "Confirmation of Full-Time Enrollment" letter, which contains the school year dates and the program of study in which you are enrolled.  It must state that you are a full-time student.  The confirmation letter must be dated after the start date of your program.  Submit this letter to the School District No. 57 Awards Program.
  • Provide School District No. 57 a copy of the thank you letter you have sent to your award's donor.
  • Provide a current mailing address, phone number, and SIN.

  

You may choose to have your award payment made directly to your bank account, or by cheque. 

If you would like the payment made directly into your account please fill out and submit the Direct_Deposit_form_1_.pdf

If you choose not to have your award payment made directly to your bank account a cheque will be generated and mailed to you, or you can pick it up at the School Board Office at 2100 Ferry Avenue.


Deadlines for Claiming Awards:

 General awards must be claimed within three years.  Exceptions are:

The following awards must be claimed in the fall the same year the award is granted:

  • ​Judi Dunnett Memorial Bursary

 

The following Award must be claimed in the fall of the year after the award is granted:

  • Multicultural Heritage Society of Prince George Scholarship 
  • P.G. Elks Lodge #122 Bursary

The following Awards must be claimed within two years:

  • Prince George & District Music Festival Association Scholarship
  • Unifor Bill Hickey Local 603 Closed Scholarhsip
  • Unifor Bill Hickey Local 603 Open Bursary
  • Unifor Local 1092/Communications, Energy & Paperworkers' Local 402 Bursary
