Student Information Update need to be returned:

On Wednesday, September 5 all students were given their student demographic information form (address/phone numbers/email address/contact information)  to bring home.  Please make any changes to this form and return it to the office.  If there are no changes simply sign the form and return it to the office.

Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIPPA) need to be returned:

Also on Wednesday, September 5 all students were given their FOIPPA permissions that you have previously given to the school please complete the FOIPPA and return it to the office.  Please note that you are responsible for notifying the school should the status of your consent change.


CBC Books Pesents: The First Page 2018 Writing Contest
I'm writing to give you a heads up about our [ http://cbc.ca/thefirstpage ]fall creative writing challenge and a [ https://www.cbc.ca/books/grades-9-to-12-students-what-is-one-book-your-entire-generation-should-be-reading-1.4802015 ]new book giveaway for Canadian secondary schools. 

First of all, [ http://cbc.ca/1.4269274 ]The First Page is back and running this year from Nov. 8 to 29, 2018. Open to students in Grades 7 to 12, we're inviting young writers to pen the first page of an original novel set 150 years in the future, imagining how a modern-day current affairs event or trend has played out.

Prizes: Two students will win one year of [ https://owlcrate.com/ ]OwlCrate, a monthly book subscription service, as well as 50 free books for their school library.

Second, CBC Books is currently running a [ https://www.cbc.ca/books/grades-9-to-12-students-what-is-one-book-your-entire-generation-should-be-reading-1.4802015 ]big book giveaway for Canadian secondary schools. We're asking students in Grades 9 to 12, What is the one book that your entire generation should read?

To enter, students should pick a book, write 100-300 words about it and [ https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd3m1p_KceENEIJleOVjrl_J4fTzilIJ62S7VykpfbwDuB4eg/viewform ]submit their entry through this online form. 15 winners will be randomly selected to receive 30 copies of the Canada Reads 2018 books for their schools — that's six copies each of The Marrow Thieves by Cherie Dimaline, American War by Omar El Akkad, Precious Cargo by Craig Davidson, Forgiveness by Mark Sakamoto and The Boat People by Sharon Bala.
