KRSS - Athletics, November, 2019
The fall sports season is drawing to a close, and more than 120 Kelly Road students have been involved in extracurricular sports! Notable successes include Kassidy P. who represented Kelly Road at the x-country provincials in Abbotsford on November 1; our junior girls who qualified for zone championships at the districts with a fourth place finish; and our two junior B girls' volleyball teams who placed number one and two at the final three tournaments of the year, raising expectations for the junior and senior girl teams for next year. Way to go Runners!
Congratulations to the senior boys' and girls' volleyball teams who will be representing our school at provincials after winning zone play downs. Congratulations to our sr. boys' volleyball team for a strong showing at their zone tournament. The weekend after, the Grade 8 teams will finish off their seasons at the districts. Good luck to all of the teams and be sure to come out and support the teams.
The winter season is just underway with tryouts happening for the junior and senior basketball season. The grade 8 basketball teams do not start until late February, but students in grade 8 are welcome to try out for one of the junior teams - students can only play junior or grade 8, not both. Students are asked to take note of upcoming dates on posters outside the gym; alternatively, they may ask one of the athletic directors for information. Students interested in wrestling are encouraged to come out to a few practices and try it out before committing to the team.
Other teams that students can join are skiing/snowboarding, badminton in January, and girl's rugby (a spring sport but practices start early), and curling if numbers warrant. Get out there and get involved Runners!
