The French Immersion program is designed for students whose first language is not French. Immersion refers to using French as the language of instruction and communication in the school setting. French Immersion is structured so that children learn both French and English skills, and follow the same curriculum as all students in the province of British Columbia.
French Immersion students from Kindergarten to Grade 3 receive all their instruction in the French language. In Grades 4-7 students receive up to 80% of their educational program in French.
Secondary French Immersion students at Duchess Park Secondary School in Grades 8-10 receive 50% of their program in French, 25% for Grade 11 and 12.5% for Grade 12.
