August 26, 2020 Update

We are now open for New Student Registration.  Please call to book an appointment (250-997-6510). When coming to register please bring a copy of your child's birth certificate, Care Card, and a copy of their most recent report card.  Safety protocols will be in place when visitors enter the building.

Students have been placed in grade specific learning groups for the school year.  The groups are as follows: 

  • Learning Group 1 Gr 7&8
  • Learning Group 2 Gr 9&10
  • Learning Group 3 Gr 11&12

Regular classes began on Monday, September 14, 2020.  

We have moved to a quarter system which has resulted in changes to our timetable.  Please see the attached bell schedule below.

School buses will be running starting on September 14.

School District No. 57 (Prince George) has updated its Re-Start Plan for the 2020-21 school year based on new guidelines provided by the Ministry of Education and the Provincial Health Officer.  The plan, approved by the Ministry of Education, is below in PDF form with updated information highlighted in yellow. The plan provides detailed information about health and safety measures in place so students, teachers and staff feel as safe as possible in our schools. The plan falls within the Provincial COVID-19 Health & Safety Guidelines for K-12 Setting and adheres to the standards and direction set by the Ministry of Education, the Provincial Health Officer, BC Centre for Disease Control and WorkSafe BC.

Mackenzie Secondary School has updated its Re-Start Plan for the 2020-21 school year based on new guidelines provided by the Ministry of Education and the Provincial Health Officer.  The plan is below in PDF form with updated information highlighted in yellow. The plan provides detailed information about health and safety measures in place so students, teachers and staff feel as safe as possible in our schools. The plan falls within the Provincial COVID-19 Health & Safety Guidelines for K-12 Setting and adheres to the standards and direction set by the Ministry of Education, the Provincial Health Officer, BC Centre for Disease Control and WorkSafe BC. Things to note that are site specific are:
  • Door opening will be staggered. The main entrance for staff and Grade 9-12 students will open at 8:00 am. The Middle Years entrance will be open at 8:20 am.
  • Students are encouraged to leave the building through the closest exit to their classroom to minimize congestion in the hallways.
  • All classrooms with or without sinks and soap dispensers will be provided with hand sanitizer or SOAPOPULAR for hand hygiene.
  • Middle Years can use their hallway and the Middle Years classrooms during the lunch hour.
  • Grade 9 and 10 students can use the Mezz during lunch hour.
  • Grade 11 and 12 students can use Room 123 during lunch hour. 
  • Students are encouraged to exit the building during breaks if they feel they are unable to remain in their designated learning group spaces.
  • Any meetings happening in person, participants must maintain physical distance.
  • Meals program and food services section.
