Provincial Health Order Changes

The Ministry of Education and the Provincial Health Office announced changes to the Provincial COVID-19 Health & Safety Guidelines for K-12 Settings.  

These changes will be in effect starting Monday February 8, 2021 when students return to school following tomorrows Non-Instructional Day.

Some of the changes includes: 

1.       New Mask Protocols 

  • Masks must be worn inside our schools and buildings by all staff and adults in K-12 settings  
    • Masks may be removed only when: 
      • Staff are eating or drinking 
      • There is a barrier between themselves and others 
  • Masks must be worn inside our schools and buildings by all students in Secondary Schools 
    • Masks may be removed only when: 
      • Students are eating or drinking 
      • There is a barrier between themselves and others

2.        Specific guidance for Physical Education and music classes 

    • Ensure space between students and staff and encourage outdoor activities and programs as much as possible 
    • k-12 staff and secondary students will wear masks while singing indoors 

3.        Daily Health Checker 

The Ministry of Education has worked with Public Health and the BCCDC to create a daily health check website and mobile app for students and parents to complete before heading to school in the morning.
