What is Happening at the School District on October 3rd?

thumbnail_Lhulh’uts’ut’en Logo Centre Text small.png

Non Instructional Days are opportunities for us to learn as a teaching community, to review practices and procedures, and to work to become better leaders in our school communities. On October 3rd School District No. 57 is holding a Lhulh'uts'u'ten Day (Indigenous Day of Learning) for our staff. The Lhulh'uts'u'ten Day is a special opportunity for us to remember that we are changemakers and that we can motivate our students to be the changemakers of their future. Staff will spend the day gathering knowledge and learning important skills they will bring back to their classrooms. Some of the activities on this day will include a session with Monique Gray Smith, drum making workshops, meetings with Indigenous Elders, learning the history of our local indigenous groups, and finding new and interesting ways to bring this knowledge back to our students. Education can lead to a better future, and this is one of the things we can do to get there.
